25 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

So this post will be a little picture heavy but I'm hoping to make up for the lack of posting lately.

Size of Baby: About 14 inches - the length of a hothouse cucumber - and weighs 1 pound, 7 ounces. The weight is pretty accurate since that is what the sonogram tech said she was weighing. This puts her in the 40th percentile.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I actually forgot to weigh myself this week. I'm sure I'm climbing on up especially since I had to cut way down on my exercise due to some intense pains that I did not have when pregnant with Gavin. In fact, it was those pains that led me to call the doctor (after two weeks) who then ordered me to get the sonogram done. I got over the three hour wait once I was able to see baby girl.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still sporting a mixture of maternity and regular clothes.

Gender: It's a GIRL! Her cheeks were so round compared to just seven weeks ago.

Movement: She has been a little wiggle worm lately, but definitely has periods of quite time too. I think she has had the hiccups a few times like her big brother used to get.

Sleep: I am having some seriously weird dreams lately.

What I miss: Not being achy everywhere.

Cravings: I have wanted foods that have protein like cheese and nuts.

Best Moment of the Week: Seeing baby girl was definitely the best! I couldn't get over her sweet little face. Gavin has also been extremely affectionate to her too. Just this week, he told her he missed her.

I probably won't be able to blog my 27th week update, but here's the picture of me in the same shirt about as far along pregnant with each of our children. I'm definitely carrying them differently.

24 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 24 Weeks

I don't have a picture yet. However, here's what I looked like at six months when pregnant with Gavin. I think I'm going to try to get D to take a picture of me tonight in this same shirt. I'm pretty sure I saw it in my maternity clothes box. If I had to guess, I would say that I look smaller while carrying Gavin.

Size of Baby: About 12.5 inches - the length of an ear of corn - and weighs around 1.25 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 14 pounds; as my doctor puts it, I went through a growth spurt. She says everyone does at some point, but I don't know if this made me feel any better.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still sporting a mixture of maternity and regular clothes.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Movement: She is an active little girl at night and was definitely on the move this morning in church.

Sleep: I have been so exhausted that I sleep fairly well. I can even sometimes resist the urge to get up in the middle of the night. If I don't have to switch to sleeping on another side, I'm good. Switching involves moving tons of pillows and some amount of pain that I did not experience when pregnant with Gavin.

What I miss: Exercising without feeling the before-mentioned pain.

Cravings: Sweet things which could be the reason for my growth spurt. I'm trying to curb the sweet craving this week.

Best Moment of the Week: Listening to Gavin talk to his baby sister. Tonight, he thought it was neat to lay down next to her.

What Happened Wednesdays

This blog post should be alternately posted, What Happened to 'What Happened Wednesdays?" Our Internet and editing program has been out for most of the past two days, so I'm a little late in posting.

For this week, I thought I would post how we shared the news with our parents that we were having a little girl. It's hard for us to just the reveal the news over the phone. Ideally, I would have loved to have a gender reveal party, but the circumstances did not work out. I had it all dreamed in my head, everyone would come over wearing a pink or blue shirt depicting their answer to what we were having. We would serve all sorts of pink/blue treats and cut open a cake with either a blue or pink filling to reveal the gender. Maybe next time, if there should be a baby number three.

Since we obviously were not going to have this party, we brainstormed and came up providing our parents pink and blue gift bags. They could pick which color bag to open with each bag containing an item that would obviously be the answer or not.

Since we found out we were having a girl, it worked out quite nicely. After our ultrasound, we stopped by the local baby store and picked up a shirt for Gavin and a cute little dress for a girl. I put Gavin's shirt in the pink bag and baby girl's dress in the blue bag. My plan worked out perfectly as both sets of parents both chose the pink bag each time, but little did they know the blue bag held the answer.

Thankfully they realized that what they opened up was a gift for Gavin in the pink bag. However, they still did not know if the blue bag contained something pink or blue. I think they were all excited to pull out a dress from the blue bag. Although they would have been excited either way.

My mother-in-law had just had foot surgery, but that didn't stop her from jumping up and down.

I was planning on posting scanned pictures of our sweet pea, but our computer literally started smoking. Talk about tech issues this week!

What Happened Wednesdays

So much has happened this summer that never made it on this ol' blog. And for probably my sake only, I wanted to document a few of those things. So I decided that for the month of September, I would do a little flashback each Wednesday with some picks and a few of the memories that I still have despite being struck with a case of baby brain.

The first stop down memory lane is to the circus. Gavin had never been and I knew it could go one of two ways. 1) He would love it. 2) He would freak out. Little did I know that it would be a combination of the two.

I love the above picture of Gavin. He looks so grown up. So, all of these pictures were taken before the circus actually started. Gavin was a champ. He seemed fine with the clowns hanging around, the elephants and the juggling that were all part of the pre-show. The true test was about to begin.

Cue the lights, music and bam! Little man was buried in our shoulders. The circus was sponsored by Chick-Fil-A, and I think what got him worried was the mention of the cow, the costumed cow. Gavin doesn't want to be near that cow with a ten foot pole.

We could get him to turn around every few minutes to see acts like the amazing strong men.

Thankfully, by the second half of the show, he was all smiles again.

22 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 22 Weeks

Size of Baby: About 11 inches - the size of a spaghetti squash - and weighs around 1 pound.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 1.5 pounds to be a pound over where I was when I was first pregnant this go around. However, I have gained a total of nine pounds if I go back to the lowest point I got to during this pregnancy. I think i am going to stick with that since it will hopefully give me more incentive not to gain as much as I did with Gavin.

Maternity Clothes: I'm still mixing the regular and maternity clothes. Although I did a happy dance when we found my box of maternity clothes in storage.

Gender: It's a GIRL!

Movement: I noticed the last few weeks she likes to move a lot during church and she seems to sit pretty low.

Sleep: I think I sleep with about three pillows surrounding me. My body pillow was not one of those things we found in storage. I may be sleeping with Gavin's four foot stuffed shark from now on.

What I miss: Sleeping without so many pillows.

Cravings: Nothing in particular, but I do feel hungry more often. I made a batch of no-bake energy balls tonight. It mostly consisted of oatmeal, peanut butter and chocolate chips. I was going to put flax seed in them but ran out.

Best Moment of the Week: Hearing baby sister's heart beat at my doctor's appointment. She is measuring right on target for growth too.
