17 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 17 Weeks

Size of Baby: About 5.1 inches - the size of an onion - and weighs around 5.9 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 3 pound loss; Well, I ended up losing the pound I gained last week plus two more this week. It may be do to the extra exercise mentioned in the previous post. I've now lost the same amount I did when pregnant with Gavin, eight pounds total, so I expect I'll probably be on the gain wagon about now.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity shorts and capris; the rest are regular clothes.

Gender: Our big appointment is this week!

Movement: Definitely felt some movement this week mostly at night when I'm still enough to notice those tiny flurries. I had a salad one night and went to do some computer work. I ended up getting really hungry a few hours later and ate half of what I had left of my salad. Well, an hour later I was still hungry, so I finished off the salad. I think sweet pea was saying "thank you" because that's when I felt all sorts of movement.

Sleep: I am still needing those naps. I can only sleep on my stomach if I do a slight leg hike.

What I miss: Caffeine!

Cravings: Maybe soup? We've had it a couple of times this week. I do notice I am hungrier at night.

Best Moment of the Week: Feeling little bit move! I was also thinking back to the 17th week when I was pregnant with Gavin. It was this same time that we found out we were having a boy and I felt Mr. Gavin move. Hard to believe that was three and a half years ago.

Feed, Clean, Repeat

A few reasons for not posting trip pictures yet:

Early morning feedings

Lots of poop clean up (this is after the cleanup)

Charming face

Very active three year old with a charming face

Let's just say we are getting a little prep for when Baby Moore number two comes. We've been helping with horse duty while my mother-in-law recuperates from foot surgery. I do have a greater appreciation for taking care of these great beasts and another reason to get an afternoon nap in.

16 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 16 Weeks

And here's the 15 week photo taken in Hawaii.

Size of Baby: About 4.6 inches - the size of an avocado - and weighs around 3.5 oz.

Total Weight Gain: 1 pound; D and I took a little babymoon to Hawaii this past week. Next year is our ten year anniversary, so we figured that we might better celebrate this anniversary since we will have an infant then. I think we have decided to have a big celebration every nine years from now on.

Maternity Clothes: I did pull out the maternity shorts for our trip. They were so much more comfortable especially when flying.

Gender: Will find out soon!

Movement: Sometimes I think I feel faint flutters like when we were at the circus today but nothing for certain.

Sleep: I am still jet lagged but even if I wasn't, I am pretty sure I would want sleep and lots of it.

What I miss: Holding my three year old as much, but I still try to sneak it in.

Cravings: I am a little surprised I gained even a pound this week (although some of it could have been the feet swelling from the plane ride) because I would order this delicious plate of Hawaiian food and have to stop about three bites in. It was like I hit a brick wall and felt really full. I finally wised up and just ordered soup the last day. We have been on a soup kick around here since then.

Best Moment of the Week: Getting to spend a week with my hunny in a beautiful place and then seeing our little boy. We had a great time but missed him terribly.

15 Weeks

***This post was supposed to publish last Friday while we were out of town, but I got back and realized it was still sitting in drafts. So....this is for last week, and I'll try to post 16 weeks tomorrow plus some pics of where we were all week.

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 15 Weeks

Sorry, no picture this week.

Size of Baby: About 4.0 inches - the size of a navel orange - and weighs around 2.5 oz.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I lost a pound when weighed at the doctors. We have some fun things planned for this week, so I have a feeling I may get that pound back.

Maternity Clothes: No, but I think maternity shorts are going to make their debut this week.

Gender: We have our appointment scheduled to see baby Moore in less than four weeks!

Movement: Not yet

Sleep: I am still wanting to sleep quite a bit. We have been pretty busy so I imagine that is helping me want a little extra sleep.

What I miss: Lunch meat because we eat a lot of it around here and it's just easy to make a quick sandwich.

Cravings: I want cold things since it is so incredibly hot around here. I am also increasing that water intake quite a bit. I had nausea for most of the first trimester and then it was gone. However, for the first time this week I found myself more sick than just a little nausea. I think I went too long without eating breakfast.

Best Moment of the Week: Hearing a healthy 158 beat per minute heartbeat at the doctor's visit. I told Gavin I had to see the doctor and he asked me why. I said that I needed to see how the baby was growing and he asked me if it was going to come out now. I think he's ready to meet baby girl/boy.

Loving You is Easy

I’ll follow you into the park, through the jungle, through the dark
I’ve never loved one like you.

Moats & boats & waterfalls, alley ways & pay phone calls
I’ve been everywhere with you.

That’s true.

We laugh until we think we’ll die, barefoot on a summer night.
Nothin’ new is sweeter than with you.

And in the sticks we’re running free like it’s only you and me.
Geez, you’re something to see.

Ahh, Home
Let me come Home.
Home is whenever I’m with you.
Ahh, Home
Let me come Home.
Home is when I’m alone with you.

Happy anniversary hunny. It seems like just yesterday we were newlyweds. Now we've been newlyweds for nine years. Love you!

Wild West Birthday

Gavin's birthday party was almost a month ago, but with so much going on and about 600 pictures to go through and edit, I'm just now getting around to posting pictures.

We live in a ranch house, both D and I grew up in the country, but to call us cowboys is kind of the antithesis of us. Usually we end up picking the non country bands to go see at the Rodeo every year. Although the fact that we go to the Rodeo is probably not helping my point here. However, we decided to throw Gavin a Wild West third birthday party since we happen to have the perfect scenery.

I pulled a lot of decorations from my mother-in-law's wide collection of western decor and made some others. I was going for sort of a vintage western feel. I also found that it was a lot cheaper to buy bandanna materiel than several bandannas, and I could use it for so many things from ties on the mason jar glasses to the gift bags.

I wish there was a closeup of the banner I made, but oh well. The thing was huge.

Gavin's cake was probably the fastest one I have ever made. It was chocolate with a caramel icing and had chocolate spots all over topped with a chocolate horse. Too bad my outlaw brother-in-law doesn't like chocolate.

I saw the idea for this "eggs and bacon" dessert somewhere on a website. To say they were easy to make is an understatement.

This is the first birthday cake Gavin has eaten in three years. I actually didn't have much hope that he would eat this one either, but maybe it was his buddy River encouraging him. Gavin would have loved an ice cream cake but it would not have made it ten seconds in the Texas heat.

The kids played a few games after decorating their stick horses. Those horses were then put to the test.

Gavin thought the cow patty game was pretty funny and some of the kids had serious strategy when it came to a game called, "There's a snake in my boot!"

My mother-in-law was also gracious enough to give all of the kids rides on Sweetie. This horse truly lives up to its name.

I tried to take a picture of the families upon arrival with the intention of mailing them out, but in the spirit of modern times, I'll e-mail them the file instead. I'm only going to post a few family members to keep the others a surprise for their inbox.

At the end of the day, the notorious "Guns Out" Gavin got away.

He probably sailed off into the the sunset.

But if I look really hard, I can sometimes hear the clacking of those boots and the soft giggle of a rough and tumble cowboy.

14 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 14 Weeks

Next week, I'm going to try to get a full body photo and maybe wear something other than workout clothes.

Size of Baby: About 3.4 inches - the size of a lemon - and weighs around 1.5 oz

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0

Maternity Clothes: No, although I'm thinking we should get them out of storage soon.

Gender: Our appointment with the new doctor is Monday, so we might get a sneak peak or she may say to schedule the ultrasound appointment for four weeks from then.

Movement: Not yet

Sleep: Still waking up once a night. I am also continuing with my afternoon nap, but I'm finding it's really hard to just sleep for 30 minutes. Usually, I end up taking at least an hour nap or none at all.

What I miss: Definitely Diet Dr. Pepper

Cravings: I have a hard time drinking water, but I am finding myself thirsty for it now. It could have something to do with the 100 degree heat!

Best Moment of the Week: On our way home from church Sunday, D asked me if I thought we were having a boy or girl. Before I could answer, we heard a sweet little voice from the backseat say, "Girl." When we asked that voice what we should name the girl, he said, "La La." In subsequent questioning he has also called the baby La La Kitty Cat. I'm not so sure we will go with his naming choice. I also realized that I am officially in the second trimester. Time is going fast now!

Final Countdown

I'm pretty sure that Gavin doesn't remember it, but two years ago, we saw the eighth to last shuttle launch and land in person while visiting Florida.

Today, we were in a little bit different setting. One of us was sporting our Superhero pajamas as we watched the last shuttle launch on television complete with our own mini space shuttle ready for takeoff.

Gavin may not remember today either, but at least I'll have pictures to show him.

On a Berry Hunt

I am finally going to try to catch up on blogging from the beginning of the summer. Just pretend we went berry picking yesterday or even this morning. That would make me feel more efficient at least!

My mother-in-law found this berry picking place a few miles down the road, so we loaded up some rascally boys and my sister-in-law. I think these three will be friends forever.

At the time blackberries were about done for the season, but we still managed to find a few not counting the ones that wound up in our mouths. Gavin did well with just picking the black ones and both little boys stayed on task for awhile.

However, I think we lost them when it was time to pick blueberries. They still found a few ways to entertain themselves.

I loved the blueberry vines. The waxy part rubs off and reveals a pretty blue hue.

We were happy with our haul and D was even happier with the blackberry cobbler later that evening.

13 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 13 Weeks

Size of baby: About 4.0 inches - the size of a navel orange and weighs around 2.5 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: No gain yet.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet either but GAP and Old Navy had an awesome online sale and I ordered a couple of maternity things. I've never ordered clothes online before so I was pretty nervous.

Gender: Hope to find out in about four weeks!

Movement: No, but looking forward to that time.

Sleep: Still waking up atleast once each night. It's also starting to get a little uncomfortable to sleep on my stomach.

What I miss: Same things as last week- energy and Diet Dr. Pepper. I am slowly getting my appetite back.

Cravings: I have actually been able to eat chicken this week although it's not necessarily something I crave. I did make a homemade cilantro dressing and told D that I was tempted to get a second helping of salad.

Symptoms: Heartburn

Best Moment of the Week: Listening to Gavin blow the baby "raspberrys."
